PAST EVENTS: FUTURES AT FENWAY
Boston, MA - 08/18/2012
On a cool and somewhat rainy day at historic Fenway park in Boston, the Legion joined forces with the 501st New England Garrison to entertain the crowds. The doubleheader game featuring the Pawtucket Red Sox and The Lowel Spinners was made extra special by the Legion's many members who led a parade, posed for numerous photos and led the crowd in a rendition of "Take Me Out To the BallGame".
BOSTON BRUINS TAKEOVER!
Boston, MA - 11/25/11
On Black Friday, characters from Star Wars: the Clone Wars TV show appeared at the TD Banknorth Garden in Boston for the Bruins vs. Red Wings hockey game. Working closely with Cartoon Network and Comcast/Xfinity, Jedi generals and clone troopers entertained both children and adult fans while promotional prizes were handed out. Members of Alderaan Base and NEG 501st Garrison, as well as visiting bases, were represented among the troopers.
Beverly, MA - 11/2/11
On a brisk fall evening, in the heart of the North Shore, two Jedi found themselves on an important mission: to visit a young boy who was about to embark on a very anticipated journey. These two Jedi met up with their Make-A-Wish contacts, and ventured into the child's home. As a complete surprise to the family, this group was quickly invited into their living room. While the parents conversed with the Make-A-Wish representatives, the child and the Jedi quickly talked "Star Wars." The child even had his own lightsaber, which he presented to the Jedi for inspection. But, alas, the Jedi had to depart, en route to another mission. They wished the family well on their upcoming voyage to Disney World, and that Master Yoda had a message for them to try out the Star Tours ride.
WOBURN HALLOWEEN PARADE
Woburn, MA - 10/30/11
On a cold and blustery October day - a day after a freak Nor'Easter which brought 12 inches of snow in some areas, Alderaan Base and the New England Garrison ventured out to one of their favorite annual events. Between costumers and wranglers 35 people braved the cold to march in the Woburn Halloween Parade, a 3 mile jaunt through Woburn. Even though the previous night's storm kept some parade viewers away, Alderaan Base and the New England Garrison represented the Star Wars Community well, and had a fun time themselves.
STAR WARS DAY AT HIGGINS ARMORY
Worcester, MA - 05/21/11
Members of the 501 New England Garrison and Alderaan Base were on hand to support the 3rd annual Star Wars Day at the Higgins Armory Museum in Worcester, MA. Troopers roamed the halls and met with museum patrons in addition to supporting three panels throughout the day: two on molding/casting/thermoforming and one on Dressing a Clone Trooper (side by side with a dressing Gothic-Style Knight). This event proves to be more popular each year, with lines of patrons waiting to get into the museum, wrapping around the building for a majority of the day.
BRUINS/CELTICS BLOOD DRIVE
Boston, MA - 01/29/11
At one of the busiest Blood Drives Alderaan has attended, Rebels and Imperials worked together to encourage plasma donation at the Bruins TD Banknorth Garden in downtown Boston. With an overwhelming response from the public the Red Cross even had to start turning people away because they ran out of appointments. Children and adults alike were excited to get their photos with Bruins legends and Star Wars characters.
CLONE WARS CHARITY SCREENING
Boston, MA - 12/8/10
Lucasfilm invited Alderaan Base and the NEG to attend a limited screening of upcoming Clone Wars episodes, revealing the new villain Savage Opress. Boston was one of only 11 US cities to host a screening, with free admission with the donation of a toy to charity.
SPIRIT OF THE SEASON CHRISTMAS PARADE
Manchester, NH - 12/4/10
NEG and Alderaan Base marched in the Spirit of the Season Christmas Parade for the first time this year, and it was also our first ever nighttime parade. Jedi made sure to bring their lightsabers and bring out some more Christmas glow! The landspeeder came along as well, covered in festive Christmas lights.
